Celebration

When Chris Stemp shows up to the games without has patented wrist bands, you know you are in for a weird night.  The Beers waited nervously as they only have 7 players at the game’s start. Luckiy, the 15 minute rule was in affect and it gave enough time for starting pitcher Mike Peterson to show up to the game in his work pants and dress shoes.

”THIS is going to be a long night,” was running through the heads of most of the Beers players.  In fact, it turns out it was the exact opposite. The Beers came out and played their best defense of the season. In games that seemed like normal baseball games as opposed to slow pitch softball, the Beers stepped up their game in the field.  Double plays, diving catches, throwing runners out attempting extra bases. You name it, it happened.

Defensive heroes would be too many too name. On the offensive side of the night, Matt Rowley and Anders Varnerskinskiwinksidinksi stepped up huge in game 1.  Phil Crosby drew a huge walk.  Matt Rowley provided a clutch double and Anders drove them both in with a HUGE triple.  That’s all the Beers needed as they held the Ninos to a scoreless 5th.  In game 2, catcher Jon Rojas provided a line drive single to score the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th, with 2 outs and bases loaded. Yes, it was truly a little leaguers dream at-bat.
